These are photos of 980/844 taken during the 1999 Edwards AFB airshow, dedicated to the 40th anniversary of the X-15 program.
Rogers Smith and Bob Meyer flew the SR-71 at Mach 3.2 on Saturday, October 9. The Sunday flight by Ed Schneider and Marta Bohn-Meyer was cancelled due to a massive fuel leak problem. The photos on this and the next page are of Rogers Smith's last ever flight in the SR on the Saturday airshow. - John Freedman |
